Students at the School of Architecture at UT Austin worked with community members to clean up an alley in East Austin. This group of students re-discovered the unserved alleys , and started to re-imagine them as a pedestrian environment that could be reinvigorated through architectural interventions and community engagement. Students also built a composting fence for one alley resident starting a process of 'greening' the alleys. This work and research lead to the development of The Alley Flat Initiative.
